Practice Teaching with SPED Classes

Practicum encompasses the phase of preparation of the student teacher relative to teaching the special children with different disabilities and whose cognitive, physical or emotional characteristics deviate or depart substantially from what is considered normal. It involves one’s actual performance with the application of previously learned knowledge, skills and attitudes. First – hand experience for final completion. Classroom management, discipline, different teaching strategies, approaches, and preparation of lesson plan are given importance under the guidance and supervision of cooperating teacher.
The component activities of the practicum are the orientation, observation and participation, preparation for teaching, actual teaching, feedback and enhancement seminars.
